The Harlem Globetrotters will return to Mott Athletics Center this Friday for their 100 year anniversary tour.
The exhibition basketball team is known for providing entertainment through trick shots, skits and dunks. The team has performed for 148 million people in 123 countries, according to their website. The Globetrotters also hold over 60 Guinness World Records, according to the event press release.
The Globetrotters have come to campus every year since 2023, according to Harlie Adams, Event and Project Coordinator for Cal Poly Conference and Event Planning. Their most prolific appearance was in Feb. 2024, where they were met with a sold-out crowd, according to Mustang News coverage.
Adams said this event is special for Cal Poly since it is typically reserved for metro areas.
“It’s awesome that they get to come here because they usually go to bigger cities,” Adams said. “So it gives a lot more opportunity for people of all surrounding towns on the Central Coast to come and enjoy.”
Adams coordinated with the Athletics department for preparing the gym, ticketing office at the Performing Arts Center for ticket sales and the Globetrotters themselves for remaining logistics.
Tickets are available to purchase on the Cal Poly tickets website. Specialty tickets are also on sale for exclusive seating, merchandise and interaction with the team.
